The European Researchers’ Night (Nit Europea de la Recerca) is a public event dedicated to the dissemination of science throughout Europe. It celebrates European projects and collaboration among its main players. This is a list of some European projects that started this year at IMB-CNM in the areas of nanoscience, energy and engineering.

The institute's large facility is back to full capacity after a month where production is stopped and maintenance tasks are carried out to prepare it for the rest of the year. Normal activity is resumed with new equipment, such as a new FIB, a new furnace battery or a new aligner.

The new subdetector is inserted in the same heart of ATLAS, with smaller sensors and high resistance to radioactivity. Some of the sensors have been developed and manufactured in the Clean Room of the IMB-CNM-CSIC, in Barcelona.

The OneWeb ninth batch of satellites will be launched tonight, 20th August, after the previously arranged date -last night- was postponed due to a non-nominal event during the final automatic sequence. The launch will happen after midnight from Baikonur, an area of southern Kazakhstan.

The group of Power Devices and Systems has obtained the patent for a new method of selective deposit by shadow mask, based on a set of self-aligned metal masks, for the implementation of tracks and pads in power electronics.

The device, which features a silicon sensor manufactured at IMB-CNM's Clean Room, monitors radon levels automatically and remotely. Radon gas is the largest source of natural radiation exposure in humans and causes 3-14% of lung cancer cases.
