CSIC participates in the new European pilot line to lead the advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration for electronic components

CSIC's Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) is the only Spanish institution within the consortium, which aims to strengthen European technological resilience by improving semiconductor supply chains. With more than 730 million euros over the next four and a half years, the Advanced Packaging and Heterogeneous Integration for Electronic Components and Systems is one of the largest pilot lines funded by the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and national funding authorities of Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Portugal, Spain, through the “Chips for Europe” initiative.

The European Commission and the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) select the PIXEurope consortium to lead the European pilot line on Advanced Integrated Photonic Circuits

The European Commission's Chips Program confirms the selection of PIXEurope as the European pilot line for photonic chips, starting the financial and technical negotiation phase. The IMB-CNM of CSIC is part of the PIXEurope consortium, which is coordinated at continental level by the ICFO of Barcelona. With the support of the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Function of the Government of Spain, and the Generalitat de Catalunya, PIXEurope will mobilize investments close to 400 million euros that will offer unique technological capabilities to the industry, with the aim of improving its capacity in the development of photonic chips and positioning Europe as a global leader.

CSIC joins the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association

The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) joins the Spanish Semiconductor Industry Association (AESEMI) through its three specialized entities in the sector: the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM), the Institute of Micro and Nanotechnology (IMN-CNM), and the Institute of Microelectronics of Seville (IMSE-CNM).
