The IMB-CNM announces the first two researchers selected through the Prex Predoctoral Fellowship call
Andrea Sanchís Moltó and Sandra Pérez Jiménez are the first two researchers to join the program associated with the María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence
The IMB-CNM announces the first two candidates selected in the first call for applications for the Prex Predoctoral Fellowships, which are linked to the “Severo Ochoa” and “María de Maeztu” projects for excellence and funded by the State Research Agency (AEI) as part of the María de Maeztu Excellence Program. Andrea Sanchís Moltó and Sandra Pérez Jiménez are the two new hires who have already begun their work at the institute.
These fellowships aim to promote the research training of young talent by incorporating them into high-impact strategic projects. The contracts will focus on research activities aligned with the priority research lines developed in the strategic plans and programs funded under the CEX2023 calls, thereby reinforcing the institute’s commitment to scientific excellence and the generation of cutting-edge knowledge. The first call, launched in 2025, provides for the hiring of one more person later this year.
Sanchís works in the field of medical physics within the Radiation Detectors Group (RDG). In her thesis, Dosimeters for Advanced Radiotherapy Modalities, she will develop detectors for FLASH radiotherapy, a type of cancer treatment. Consuelo Guardiola Salmerón is the supervisor, and Ivan López Paz serves as co-director.
Pérez is joining the IMB-CNM to pursue her PhD in the Biomedical Applications Group (GAB). Her thesis, Development of Graphene Microtransistor Arrays for High-Throughput Multibiosensing, will focus on developing graphene transistors to create a sensing platform capable of detecting multiple molecules simultaneously. This research addresses a challenge with significant implications for public health. Researcher Elisabet Prats Alfonso (from CIBER-BBN at IMB-CNM) will serve as the thesis supervisor, and researchers Xavier Illa Vila and Sergi Brosel Oliu will serve as co-advisors.
