Abstract
Microcontact printing can be a compelling and powerful alternative to fabricate mono- and multifunctionalized surfaces with continuous or discreet sensing/reactive sites for myriad applications. We have developed an automatized printing tool to functionalize from large area substrates up to suspended microparticles with customized anisotropies. We have also developed smaller patterns upgrading it with polymer pen lithography. Collectively, promising results and applications have been demonstrated and published in high impact journals, and our aim is to extend possible intramural collaboration.
About the speaker
Dr. Juan Pablo Agusil received his biomedical engineering degree from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México, México in 2009. Subsequently, he obtained an IBEC scholarship to study his master's degree at the Department of Physics from the Universitat de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain in 2010. In 2015, he finished his Ph.D. in Nanoscience from the same university with the extension of the scholarship. His master's and Ph.D. were focused on the chemical functionalization of various surfaces and suspended chips for applications in microfluidics, biosensors, and microtechnology. Later in 2015, he joined the Group of Micro- & NanoTools group at Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC), Spain, and he is currently working on the development of suspended microtools for living cell applications and barcoding, with focus on the surface modification and liberation of microparticles.
