“La revolució silenciosa”, the itinerant exhibition of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC), moves to the FAB Casa del Mig – Punt Multimedia, located in the Parc de l’Espanya Industrial of the Barcelona neighborhood of Sants. From May 26 to June 28, it will be possible to enjoy a didactic exhibit about microelectronics and learn about the transistor, the small protagonist that has led to the current digital revolution.

The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC) inaugurates today the exhibition "La Revolució Silenciosa" at Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona (ETSETB-UPC). Until 19th May, visitors will be able to learn about the evolution of transistor and microelectronics in its more than 75 years of life.

The researcher from the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona will test a Martian battery based on iron compounds and urine in Hypatia I, a mission of women scientists at the Mars Desert Research Station.

The IMB-CNM organizes different initiatives to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science this 2023. For yet another year, it is celebrated with the organization of talks open to everyone, internal events and talks by scientists in schools to approach them as references in the classroom.

The exhibition that commemorates the 75th anniversary of the invention of the transistor, organized by the IMB-CNM with the collaboration of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), will be in the ETSEIB-UPC Exhibition Hall, in Barcelona, until March 30th.

It is part of the series "Objectes de la Recerca", organized by the CSIC Delegation of Catalonia, in Barcelona, and a Schottky diode manufactured in the Clean Room of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona can be seen there until April 14. 720 devices identical to this diode are incorporated into the solar panels of the BepiColombo space probe, which is currently traveling to the planet Mercury. The exhibition also includes an audiovisual capsule, a lecture and a contest.

On February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona is launching an initiative to share the names of female leaders in microelectronics, whether in the form of scientists, technicians or large history researchers.

The IMB-CNM has organized three activities for the Science Week, which were attended by more than 100 people throughout the week. The events, in Cerdanyola del Vallès and Terrassa, have brought together audiences from various ages.
