This unique location returns to full capacity today after an August in which most of the manufacturing processes were stopped in order to carry out the pertinent maintenance tasks at the facility. Normal activity is recovered with the incorporation of new equipment, such as the commissioning of the second new dichlorosilane cabin for the LPCVD (AFU) battery.

Luis Fonseca, director of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona, appeared at the Catalan Parliament's Economy and Finance Committee to talk about semiconductor manufacturing in Catalonia, the FabCat initiative and the possibility of setting up a factory in the territory.

They want to support Catalonia as the headquarters of the semiconductor and microchip industry.

The ICTS MicroNanoFabs is a network of clean rooms dedicated to micro and nano manufacturing that has three delocalized nodes, the Clean Room of the IMB-CNM (CSIC) and those of the ISOM-UPM and NTC-UPV. The coordination is renewed every two years and the IMB-CNM takes over from ISOM-UPM.

The Mayor of Cerdanyola del Vallès, Carlos Cordón, accompanied by his cabinet, visited the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona on the occasion of the award of the City of Innovation seal to Cerdanyola and the deployment of the PERTE Microelectronics and Semiconductors, which considers the Clean Room of the CSIC, hosted and managed by the IMB-CNM, as a strategic asset.

The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona and its Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room, as the main node of the ICTS Micronanofabs, are considered a strategic asset in the Chip Strategic Project (Microelectronics and Semiconductors) and offers its experience in the design and manufacture of electronic devices and systems, as well as its capacity to train new professionals in these areas.

NANBIOSIS is one of the five ICTS in the area of health sciences and biotechnology and IMB-CNM is in charge of the Micro-Nano Technology Unit, as it is a place with the capacity for producing high quality CVD-graphene.

Two representatives of the Science and Technology Division of the Taiwan Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) visited the IMB-CNM facilities with the Direction team.
