The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) regularly attends university events with science students to promote specialization in microelectronics, to publicize the possible job opportunities in a research center and to show the impact of micro and nanoelectronic technologies on society.

In recent weeks, the institute's staff has been busy attending the most important events held in and around Barcelona.

MEMEnginy at the UAB School for Engineering

  • April 24th.
  • Escola d'Enginyeria UAB.
  • With Raquel Villero, Dani Ortega, Marta Fernández Regúlez, Jordi Llobet, Eva Deltor, Juan Campoverde, Emma Solà, Carlos Álvarez Meythaler, Natalia Bermejo and Sabela Rey.

The MEMEnginy technology fair of the UAB School of Engineering broke the record of participation of companies and students and has become one more year a meeting point between young talent and companies in the ICT sector. It received nearly 1,500 students and 80 companies in its 11th edition.

Annually and for more than six years, IMB-CNM has been attending the fair with a stand to showcase microelectronics technologies and disseminate the needs of trained engineering personnel for environments such as IMB-CNM. In addition, pre-doctoral researcher Emma Solà came to show and disseminate her video Conectando chips, where she explains her thesis project for the competition Yo Investigo Yo Soy CSIC, organized by the Postgraduate Department of CSIC.

PLANCKS 2025

  • May 5th.
  • Facultad de Matemáticas y Estadística de la UPC.
  • With Raquel Villero.

The Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students (PLANCKS) is an international physics competition for undergraduate and master's students. Lasting four days, the event combines a physics competition with a packed program of social and scientific activities. Students from around the world come together to compete, connect and share their passion for physics while exploring the research environment and culture of the host country.

This year, the event took place in Barcelona under the coordination of the Student Group of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics (RSEF). One of the activities was a forum of companies and universities at the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC, which IMB-CNM attended for the first time.

Biomedical Engineering Talent Forum from UPC, UPF and UB

  • May 6th.
  • Escola d’Enginyeria de Barcelona Est, Campus Diagonal Besòs (EEBE).
  • With Raquel Villero.

Biomedical engineering applies the concepts, principles and methods of engineering to the resolution of problems in biomedicine, and has become a strategic socioeconomic activity with great impact on modern medicine.

The Fórum Talento, organized by the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), Pompeu Fabra University (UPF), University of Barcelona (UB), the Spanish Federation of Health Technology Companies (FENIN) and Biocat, BioRegion of Catalonia, is an annual platform for engineering students and graduates to meet. The IMB-CNM has been present on different occasions to showcase its extensive research in biomedicine, health and environment, structured through the Health and Environment Axis and with leading groups such as the Biomedical Applications Group or the Chemical Transducers Group, among others.

UB Fira d’Empreses

  • May 7th.
  • Facultat de Física UB.
  • With Aida Visús, Iñigo Martín, Carme Martínez, Raquel Villero and Sabela Rey.

The UB Business Fair is an opportunity for students to connect with companies involved in activities related to their studies. This student-company contact can lead to a scholarship, a work placement agreement or an employment contract. It represents an attempt to overcome the university/company barrier and to promote technology transfer, which is so important for the future.

IMB-CNM has been attending annually for more than five years, with a stand where it shows its manufacturing capabilities, the technologies in which it researches and the impact on society of these results.

Internships, TFG and offers to enter IMB-CNM

IMB-CNM is the perfect environment to develop a career in R&D&I. It is a dynamic center composed of more than 250 people from different backgrounds working to achieve scientific excellence. Administrative staff, technical staff, student body and research staff make the day-to-day work possible, which includes the Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room (MICRONANOFABS), a unique facility of more than 1,500 square meters that aims to help national and international research groups to carry out semiconductor fabrication activities.

The institute offers a highly interdisciplinary training with multidisciplinary teams where micro and nanotechnologies are transversal, allowing their application in very diverse fields of science and technology, and covers a wide range of degrees. The IMB-CNM is staffed by people who have studied all kinds of scientific careers, from engineering to physics, chemistry, biology, nanoscience and medicine.
