Cell stimulation device for use in medical prostheses
Scientists at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM) have developed a device based on nanogenerators for the electrical stimulation of cells, without the need of bulky electrodes or instruments. The advancement has applications in health for bone regeneration in prostheses or the rehabilitation of muscular atrophy.
Two IMB-CNM researchers acknowledged by the CSIC for their Scientific Merits during 2016
Dra. Rosa Villa and Dr Gonzalo Murillo, awarded during 2016-2017 by external institutions for their Scientific Merits, have been acknowledged by the CSIC on July 5, 2017, at the CSIC Auditorium in Madrid.
Manufacturing antimicrobial fabrics and devices at industrial scale
A European project involving the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona (IMB-CNM) of the CSIC, and led by the Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya (UPC), will introduce on the market an ultrasound technology for industrial production of fabrics and surfaces coated with antimicrobial nanoparticles.
