We are surrounded by high-level institutions in a campus of scientific excellence.
IMB-CMN is located in the UAB Campus of Cerdanyola, surrounded with outstanding research and technological centres. It is just a train away from Barcelona and expands a wide range of access to many state-of-the-art scientific facilities. We are neighbours of many CSIC centres especialised in nanotechnology, science materials, space sciences; as well as many UAB faculty or independent research centres, with whom we maintain a close collaboration.
We are surrounded by centres of scientific excellence attached to the CSIC or other institutions, such as the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC), the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2), the Institute of High Physics Energy (IFAE) or the Institute of Space Sciences (ICE-CSIC-IEEC), among many others. We are the neighbours of the ALBA Synchrotron, a complex of electron accelerators to produce synchrotron light. Through the years, our researchers have nurtured an open collaboration with these institutions, with which we have shared projects and publications. The activities on campus (UAB) also enable extracurricular activities for IMB-CNM students, such as sports, culture, languages, seminars, etc., to promote personal growth in soft-skills and a social ecosystem for the benefit of the community.
Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room
The Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room (SB-CSIC) is a Singular Scientific and Technological Infrastructure (ICTS) dedicated to the development and application of innovative technologies in the field of Microelectronics together with other emerging Micro/Nanotechnologies. Micro and Nano enabling technologies are considered by the European Commission disruptive technologies of horizontal nature that are key for many industrial and societal applications and vital for the maintenance of jobs in Europe. Microelectronics and Nanotechnology are part of the Key Enabling Technologies -KET's- concept.
