Science in femenine: meet the winners!
IMB-CNM awards Eva Deltor the first prize of its inaugural contest on science career development for women
The "Science in Feminine contest, led by the Equality Committee to provide visibility and tools to female researchers at the predoctoral or recently doctoral stages, has selected the awardees for this first edition.
The first prize was awarded to Eva Deltor Cortés, an electronic engineer currently pursuing her PhD at IMB-CNM, where she designs a chip aimed at improving the resolution and energy efficiency of infrared cameras, as clearly explained in her excellent video. The other awardees, Maria Benito Gomes (second prize) and Eva Casals Pérez and Cristina Vaca Chanatasig (third prizes), were also recognized for the originality and inspirational nature of their videos, which highlight their career paths and their commitment to research.
In accordance with the competition guidelines, the jury was composed of IMB-CNM staff members and an external expert, researcher Belén Ballesteros from Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (ICN2). The jury evaluated both the innovative format of the videos and the quality and scientific relevance of their content.
The announcement of the winners took place during the IMB-CNM Christmas event, led by Director Luis Fonseca, during which the video of the first-prize winner was screened. The awards were designed to provide visibility and practical tools to the participating researchers: the first prize includes conference registration and travel expenses, while the remaining prizes offer training in science communication.
IMB-CNM aims to continue promoting initiatives such as Science in the Feminine to support researchers in developing their careers beyond the doctoral and postdoctoral stages, should they wish to do so, and to provide opportunities to access leadership positions in the future.
