“La revolució silenciosa”, the exhibition organized by the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona in collaboration with Fundació Espanyola per a la Ciència i la Tecnologia· Ministeri de Ciència i Innovació (FECYT), arrives at the facilities of the Campus Nord of the UPC, at the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona. It opens today and can be seen until 19th May.

The project deals with micro and nanoelectronics since the invention of the transistor in 1947, a semiconductor component of chips that marked the start of the microelectronics revolution. The display shows the motivations behind its creation, the processes of miniaturization and the famous Moore's law, coined by the recently deceased Gordon Moore, co-founder of Intel and a pioneer in the microprocessor sector.

The exhibit has been carried out within the FECYT project "Un microchip muy grande" and will be open to visitors from 19th April to 19th May at the C4 lobby of the Campus Nord of the UPC. This is the third time that “La revolució silenciosa” has been programmed, which in June will transfer to the FAB Casa del Mig – Punt Multimedia, a public facility of the Barcelona City Council in the Parc de l'Espanya Industrial de Barcelona.

The didactic content has been created by the researchers Joan Marc Rafí, Xavier Jordà, David Sánchez and Miquel Vellvehi, and the Scientific Culture team of the IMB-CNM-CSIC, Sabela Rey, Daniel Ortega and Patricia Rodrigo.
