The IMB-CNM participates in the European Researchers' Night 2025 with activities at CosmoCaixa
The institute is once again participating in the European event with scientific demonstrations, workshops, and talks that bring microelectronics and technology closer to the general public

The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC) reaffirms its commitment to scientific dissemination by participating in European Research Night 2025, as part of the program of activities to be held on September 26 at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.
As part of the Research Fair, the center will present a range of interactive and educational activities that will give the public an insight into how microelectronics can help solve social and health challenges. The IMB-CNM's proposals for this year's event include technology demonstrations, informative workshops, and a humorous talk, all designed to spark curiosity and encourage scientific thinking.
El papel del diagnóstico: una nueva herramienta
- Feria de la Investigación, Planta -5, from 6 to 8 pm
César Fernández-Sánchez, Marco Henares Arjona (hired under the CATMAL project, with support from the CaixaResearch Call for Health Research from the ”la Caixa” Foundation) and Manuel Gutiérrez-Capitán present a platform for early diagnosis of malaria at the point of care. This device, which fits in the palm of your hand, will soon be tested in Angola. The pre-commercial version will be on display at CosmoCaixa to explain how it works and its potential impact on healthcare.
Activity organized as part of the CATMAL project, which is supported by the CaixaResearch Call for Health Research Proposals from the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
Detectar lo invisible: desarrollo de sensores para radioterapia FLASH
- Feria de la Investigación, Planta -5, from 6 to 8 pm
Ángela María Henao Isaza (hired under the DOSIFLASH project, with support from the CaixaResearch Call for Health Research from the ”la Caixa” Foundation) introduces the detectors developed at the IMB-CNM for this emerging technique in oncology. Attendees will be able to interact with the sensors using a laser, observing their behavior in real time. Actual samples of the devices will also be on display.
Activity organized within the framework of the DOSIFLASH project, which is supported by the CaixaResearch Call for Health Research Proposals from the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
Desperta la curiositat: què s’amaga dins d’un xip?
- Workshop with prior registration in the Sala Sigma, Planta -2, from 6:45 pm to 7:15 pm
An informative workshop to discover what electronic chips are, how they work, and what role they play in today's technological systems. The activity is aimed at curious members of the public and prior registration is required.
