The Advanced Thin Dielectric Films Group (ATDF), led by Francesca Campabadal, has just published the last paper of the year in Applied Physics Letters. "Current transient response and role of the internal resistance in HfOx-based memristors" is the last publication of an IMB-CNM group in 2020.

The paper is signed by Advanced Thin Dielectric Films Group (ATDF) members: Mireia Bargalló González, Marcos Maestro Izquierdo, Francisco Jiménez Molinos, Juan Bautista Roldán and Francesca Campabadal.
Current transient response and role of the internal resistance in HfOx-based memristors
Memristors are currently being explored for a wide variety of potential applications, including nonvolatile data storage and digital logic circuits and for hardware security purposes. These devices are seen as potential candidates to emulate the synapticfunctionality of biological inspired neuromorphic circuits due to their ability to tune their resistance state (synaptic weight) needed tooptimize their learning mechanisms.
The resistive switching dynamics associated with the electric field and temperature assisted oxygen vacancy/ion migration, generation, and recombination processes is investigated in-depth through current transient experiments. Providing a deeper insight into the key parameters that have a crucial influence in the SET and RESET transitions and can strongly impact the programming energy consumption of redox-based HfO2-memristors.
Applied Physics Letters (APL) features concise, up-to-date reports on significant new findings in applied physics. Emphasizing rapid dissemination of key data and new physical insights, APL offers prompt publication of new experimental and theoretical papers reporting applications of physics phenomena to all branches of science, engineering, and modern technology.
