Bringing research to the public: the IMB-CNM at Ciència en Equip 2026

The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) participated in the twelfth edition of the Ciència en Equip fair, held on April 11, 2026, in the city of Girona, reaffirming its commitment to science outreach and the transfer of knowledge to society. The workshop was led by four members of the IMB-CNM, three women and one man: Mercedes Saludes, Carla Blanes, Isabel Arias, and Joel Pérez.

As part of this leading initiative in public outreach, the IMB-CNM organized the workshop "Recarrega't!", an interactive educational activity aimed at families and school groups. The workshop took place over four consecutive hours and introduced key concepts in microelectronics and semiconductor technology through hands-on materials, simple experiments, and explanations tailored to different age groups.

This participation builds on the IMB-CNM’s first appearance at Ciencia en Equipo in 2024, reinforcing the institute's commitment to actively contributing to initiatives that foster scientific and technological vocations and promote open, accessible science that is close to the public.

The participation is part of the IMB-CNM's science outreach and education efforts, aimed at raising awareness of both the research conducted at the center and the fundamental role of science and technology in today’s society.
