Second prize at the VHIR Health Innovation Contest
The project "Liver on a chip", participated by the Biomedical Applications Group of the IMB-CNM (CSIC) won the second prize of the second Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) Health Innovation Contest in the Biomedical Research Innovation category.
US patent on electrically-cooled power modules
A US Patent (No. US 8.995.134 B2) entitled “Electrically-cooled Power Module” was assigned to Lear Corporation (Southfield, MI, USA) on March 31, 2015. This patent was developed by IMB-CNM researchers in collaboration with engineers from Lear Corporation (Valls, Spain) and Leitat (Terrassa, Spain) in the framework of the CENIT-VERDE project.
Organ on a chip for biomedical experimentation
Scientists at the CSIC and at CIBER have developed a device which combines microelectronics and microfluidics to reproduce cell barrier conditions and to monitor them. It has applications on medical essays, to test drugs designed to penetrate cell barriers, such as antitumoral drugs for brain tumors or treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
The CSIC, the ALBA Synchrotron and Alibava Systems develop an X-ray detector
A team of researchers and engineers of the ALBA Synchrotron have collaborated with members of the company Alibava Systems and the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM) of the CSIC, to develop a radiation detector aimed at measuring the intensity of the beam with high precision when performing an experiment at a synchrotron facility.
