IMB-CNM PhD graduate among the best young innovators of the year
Gonzalo Murillo received his PhD in Microelectronic Engineering from the UAB in 2011 and is researcher at the CNM. He has been voted one of the best innovators under 35 in Spain and the best original innovator in Europe by the MIT Tecnology Review, for his creation of a solution to make small sensors function without batteries.
UAB Best PhD Thesis Awards for Anton Guimerà and Núria Torras
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona has awarded the prizes for Best Doctoral Thesis to Anton Guimerà (Engineering and Telecommunications) and Núria Torras (Engineering), for their thesis research carried out at IMB-CNM.
New autonomous microsensor is capable of detecting respiratory problems
Researchers from the UAB, the IMB CNM - CSIC and the UPC have developed a thermoelectric sensor based on silicon nanotechnology with the power to regenerate itself and detect respiratory problems such as sleep apnoea and pneumonia. To commercialise the sensor, the tech-based company FutureSiSens was created.

Fundación Repsol has announced the names of the two projects chosen to be part of the Entrepreneurs Fund from the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM). This initiative, now in its fifth edition, is an incubator which aims to provide support for the best entrepreneurial projects that provide innovative energy and energy efficiency solutions.
