Concurso Un microchip muy grande prórrogaThe "Un microchip muy grande" contest, organized by the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) with the support of the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) - Ministry of Science and Innovation, extends the date for the reception of works until June 30, 2023. Students of secondary school, high school and training cycles of educational centers at the state level can apply.

The initiative rewards works related to microelectronics and the transistor as an electronic device. Pre-university students can present works in different formats, everything from newspaper articles and essays to developments of electronic circuits or research papers are accepted.

The prizes include electronic material, visits to the institute and its Micro and Nanofabrication Clean Room, and vouchers to exchange for electronic games. Originality and creativity will be taken into account, as well as the value and difficulty of the development, in the case of the creation of an electronic circuit.

The project promotes the culture and knowledge of chips and microelectronic technologies, present in all aspects of life and currently in a context of production crisis. The institute has educational materials open to schools to work transversally in the subjects of Physics and Chemistry or Technology and promote the creation of the proposals.
