Presentation of the CATMAL project by César Fernández (Chemical Transducers Group, IMB-CNM).
CATMAL receives support in the sixth edition of projects from the CaixaResearch call for Health Research, promoted by the ”la Caixa” Foundation.
An overview about the CATMAL project (Compact Analytical Tool for robust MALaria decentralized diagnosis and community surveillance) will be given. The project will be framed within the research work carried out by the presenter in electrochemical point-of-care devices for the last six years. Special attention will be paid to the previous results underpinning this project and the current technological challenges to be faced in order to eventually provide a point-of-care analytical tool that could be used to rapidly detect malaria in its early infection stages in low resource settings.
