20-minute thesis presentations by IMB-CNM predoctoral researchers Aida Visús and Leo Salgado.

Beyond PET: New Sustainable Flexible Substrates for Printed Electronics

This talk will address the growing environmental concerns associated with electronic waste and the increasing demand for sustainable electronic technologies. After a brief overview of current climate and sustainability challenges, I will discuss the use of conventional materials such as PET in printed electronics and present two alternative approaches based on biomaterials: Poly(lactic acid- co-oxacyclohexadecenlactone) (PLH) and silk fibroin (SF). These materials offer promising routes towards more sustainable electrochemical sensors and printed electronic devices, combining functionality with a lower environmental impact.
