The 10alamenos9 Festival celebrates a decade of revolutionizing nanoscience outreach in collaboration with IMB-CNM
CosmoCaixa Barcelona is gearing up for an explosion of nano-knowledge at the 10th edition of the 10alamenos9 Festival
The world of the infinitely small, nanoscience, and nanotechnology will take center stage at CosmoCaixa Barcelona today and tomorrow, May 9 and 10, 2025. The 10ALAMENOS9 Festival, which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, consolidates itself as the leading event in Ibero-America for the popularization of this crucial scientific field, having attracted more than 250,000 people since its inception.
The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) has collaborated with the festival for years, offering workshops or guided visits to high school classes during a 10ALAMENOS9 day at the UAB Campus, coordinated by the Faculty of Science.
Since its inception in 2016, born as an initiative by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), 10ALAMENOS9 has evolved, transforming into a dynamic Ibero-American meeting point. The festival brings together more than 60 research centers from 16 countries, weaving a network that brings nanoscience to society in an innovative and accessible way. The Festival has received support from BASF since its first edition.
"We want the public to be amazed and to understand that nanoscience is not science fiction, but a reality that is already transforming our lives," says Jordi Díaz-Marcos, coordinator of the initiative. "In this tenth edition, we celebrate the journey we've come and reaffirm our commitment to quality outreach."
CosmoCaixa: the epicenter of the nanorevolution
The 2025 edition at CosmoCaixa Barcelona will offer a vibrant, free program for all audiences, which includes:
- NanoEscape: La Missió Invisible (9 i 10 de maig): Un escape room on els participants s'endinsaran en el món de la nanomedicina, alliberant fàrmacs encapsulats en nanopartícules.
- Tallers Nano (9 i 10 de maig): Els principals centres amb recerca a nanotecnologia de Catalunya, comprenent IMB-CNM-CSIC, IN2UB-CCiTUB, ICN2, ICFO, ICMAB i IREC, compartiran recerca frontera amb tallers experimentals visuals per tot tipus de públic.
- 9 de maig a les 18 hores, Connecta si pots!: La investigadora de l'IMB-CNM Gemma Rius porta un taller de preguntes i respostes per descobrir qui sap més de nanociència i continuar aprenent.
- Nanotalks (9 de maig): Expertes en nanomedicina i nanomaterials compartiran les seves investigacions i visions de futur.
- 9 de maig a les 20:45, Tota ciència és important fins i tot la més absurda: La investigadora Elisabet Prats (CIBER-BBN al Grup d'Aplicacions Biomèdiques) fa una xerrada sobre la explicació dels fenòmens absurds... que no hem de menystenir!
- NanoSciengers (9 de maig): Una xerrada que explorarà l'impacte de la nanotecnologia en les nostres vides a través de personatges amb "estil Marvel", revelant els "superpoders" del nanomón.
- Espectacles Científics (9 de maig): Un espectacle on el jazz i la ciència es fusionen per oferir una experiència sensorial única (El viatge de l'àtom) i un espectacle familiar (supernano, una aventura a Nanoland).
