CSIC manufactures microsensors to monitor fermentation and wine aging processes
The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM-CSIC) participates in a project to improve the monitoring of fermentation and aging of Catalan wine farms through sensors and chips. The sensorization of wineries seeks to improve the economic performance of farms and better cope with the effects of climate change in the coming decades.
Paper-based device developed for rapid diagnosis of lung diseases
A team of IMB-CNM-CSIC researchers has coordinated the design of an instrument that combines microfluidics on paper and electrochemical transduction. It easily and quickly detects chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), the third leading cause of death worldwide, and its versatility allows its application to the detection of other target biomarkers, such as specific RNA sequences of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
The IMB-CNM creates the first guide for the sustainable design and manufacture of printed electronic devices
IMB-CNM research staff publishes an exhaustive experimental review of inks, paper substrates and printing techniques, with the aim of offering a guide with data for the scientific community to facilitate the design of printed devices and their ecological manufacture.
The director of the IMB-CNM, Luis Fonseca, joins the committee of experts of the PERTE Chip created by the Government
Luis Fonseca, director of the Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona, joins the "council of wise men" of the PERTE Chip made up of the First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, to promote and attract investment to Spain around the chip industry and related technologies.
